Below is our recent interview with Roger Brown from CardFunder:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: CardFunder is an innovative fundraising platform, equipping organizations to tap into $20B worth of unused gift cards. Our B2B platform converts new or partially used gift cards into cash. It’s fast, easy, and produces substantial results without interrupting other charity-type events. The Cardfunder platform promotes frictionless giving while reducing unnecessary waste. As a B2B platform, we provide ongoing direct support, social media tool kits, and everything needed for a successful campaign.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: While CardFunder currently allows organizations to accept physical gift cards for donation, the newly released Mobile App expands the opportunity. The mobile app will enable donors to contribute unwanted gift card balances to organizations from their mobile phones. Building on local physical donation fundraising, the easy-to-use app expands the reach of a fundraiser across time zones and regions, allowing out-of-state friends, family, and supporters to donate easily.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The new Mobile APP offers organizations a customized landing page, easy onboarding, and no-cost setup. Organizations can then share the CardFunder link on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter-or by Q.R. code. Donors can also search by the organization’s name to locate the fundraiser. The donor then scans the card, enters the card information, and submits the donation with a button click. The donor can receive a receipt or confirmation by entering their email or phone number.
Q: What can we expect from your company in the next six months?
A: What are your plans? We plan to launch a web version in the coming months, and this will provide unparalleled donation access in person, online, and by mobile app.

Q: What are some of the industry facts people might not know about?
A: U.S. consumers have $21 billion in unused gift cards lying around, but they’re in no hurry to use the money. A new Bankrate study shows nearly half (47%) of U.S. adults say they have at least one gift card, voucher, or store credit on hand. That averages to $175 a person — up 51% from $116 a year earlier — or $21 billion in unused gift cards. The notion that each American adult is leaving $175 on the table is a head-scratcher for money experts. CardFunder aims to change those statistics!
